Converting trailer lights to LEDs
« on: May 23, 2018, 09:16:39 AM »

Hey Folks,
Has anyone converted their trailer lights to LEDs? I watched a BPS show with Ott Defoe and his trailer was submerged with LEDs on, and this looked like it could be really handy when trying to load at night.
I WANT!

Thanks for your input

Trailer lighting is pretty simple. However, you'd have to buy light replacements that fit your current lighting holes. Or you'll have to cut holes to fix the lights you want. They may or may not have the same connector. I've seen some LED lights literally plug right into the location of a regular bulb light.

Another option is LED lighting strips. Putting strips along your trailer so that they show the outline of the trailer in the water.

I swapped my bulb trailers lights for LED's. If I can do this, anyone can.  lo Pretty easy. I just made sure my splices were connected and heat wrapped, then sealed with liquid electric tape. Have had 0 issues.

for the life of me, cheap trailers or not, can't imagine why all lighting would not be LED going forward.
have them on my little trailer.  in a word:  awesome!

bought a boat a few years back from a MAJOR boat mfg (won't say who but it rhymes with dANGER) and was really surprised that the trailer came from the factory with incandescent lights/bulbs.  pretty sure all the glass-gofast-metal flake boats have trailers with LEDs under them.

I did mine, pretty easy. Like mike said,

Getting new lights that fit the same hole it the worst part. Lucky for me, Bass Cat took care of that. So I had no issues. Even with LED lights from Academy.
