New from PA
« on: June 12, 2018, 12:05:08 PM »

Couple years ago I moved from New Jersey to PA for work. I grew up mostly salt water fishing, but that won't be the case so much anymore. I'm only a short distance from a large man made lake which I know has a good supply of bass and muskee. I figured now is a good time to take up the hobby (add it to my long list of expensive hobbies). I'm not even sure where to begin. I broke out and cleaned up my old spinner and baitcaster and started putting together a tackle box but have no idea what I should be buying. What are the must have items for bass fishing? I will be doing 90% bank fishing although the wife and I have discussed getting a kayak several times. And good areas I should look here for techniques? I see a lot of different phrases but most a pretty foreign to me. Thanks for the help. I look forward to getting back out on the water more often.

Welcome, Iím from pa myself, live up close to cabelas. My must have baits for a start would be senkos, rigged on size 5 screwlock hooks. Some jigs, and some sort of topwater, maybe some poppers and I also use zoom horny toads a lot around here.

Thanks for the recommendations.

Know of anywhere that has information on "proper technique" for some of these rigs? Like I said, when it comes to bass fishing on lures, I'm totally green!

If you have some time to watch YouTube, look up tactical bassin. Those guys have a ton of very good information on a wide variety of techniques, baits, rigging and so on.
