Hello, my name is Bogdan Ion. I attend Mountain Vista Governor's School for science and math at LFCC in Middletown. Part of the curriculum for 12th grade is to do a capstone project. For the capstone project, students have the option to participate in an internship, pursue a passion of theirs, or help the community. I am interested in doing a project that revolves around fishing. Recently I have been very interested in fishing for bass in local waters. However, to be able to fish for my capstone project I am need of an expert and/or someone who has a great knowledge on the the subject of fishing. I was wondering if there are any people on this forum that would be interested in serving as an expert angler for me. If anyone would like more details or would be willing to help out, please send me a message!

Do we have to be in Virginia? As TheLastRodBender asked, what are the requirements of this specialist?

Our seniors do something similar here in Louisiana, most run a fundraising tournament to fulfill the community support part of it. Giving raised funds to a community organization.

Maybe Ultimate Bass can be your expert, UB is a huge resource and you can find answers throughout it, If you can't, you can always ask and get a quick answer.

The expert doesn't necessarily have to be from Virginia, but I would need someone that I could get into contact with if I had any questions. There aren't any particular requirements for the person I'm looking for. I need a person that would be able to convince my teacher they are a pretty good angler. Maybe some things like how many fishing tournaments have been won, how many years have you been fishing, what is the biggest fish you have caught, are you in any big fishing clubs, etc.. Things of this nature to demonstrate that the person could serve as an expert for my project.

Well, I've been fishing for 46 years (since I was 4) my biggest bass is 12.4 pounds, I've literally won more tournaments than I can remember. I'm actually prouder of someone of the second and third place finishes as they seem harder earned. Now convincing your instructor of this could be a little difficult, however, I do own this site.

Not sure the fishing history your teacher has, but there is no shortage of people on this board who could very well give an 'expert opinion' if that's what you're looking for.

I've been fishing since I can remember (I'm 33) and it's been a major passion of mine for the last 15 years.  I've been a member of this board since 2011 and have been on the moderating team for a few years now.  I've written a couple articles on the site that have been published, and have logged my fair share of time on the water.  That said, I don't fish tournaments.  I don't have the resources to fund a bass boat, which limits my ability to be competitive.  I have participated with a club and done a few minor 'braggin rights' tournaments, but nothing anywhere close to 'professional.'

Are you looking more for a 'professional' or just someone who knows what they're talking about when it comes to the sciences of fishing?
