Nothing special but a decent evening. Figured Id fill my stringer out with them. I think all but one was caught on a Pit Boss (Junebug and Black n Blue) pitching to cover.

Some weird year. Almost no top water bite at this lake this year. Last year it was a massive fun factory for top water, nearly all summer it was on even during the heat of the day.  :(

Went for a few hours this evening. Same as Steve- you gotta work for them, and the last two trips have yielded ZERO topwater bites. And I've thrown a frog just about three miles to not get those bites. And the shad are EVERYWHERE.

As I said before, these flippin' fish are brutal- I winch 'em in, then they tear me up, and gettin' a pic of them when they're green is really tough-

If I didn't hurt so bad with my back this would be fun.

Heck even with my neck hurting like heck I'd still be chasing fish that size. It weighed more than the limit I caught for the club Sunday. Don't ask, I want to forget that day.

Braved the heat and had a great day. Despite being well in the triple digits, and fishing mid day, I caught 30-40 fish in about 6 hours.
But in Nevada pond dink fashion, the biggest 5 totalled 64"
Should have been more. I caught one that went 15.5" and for the life of me cant find the pictures of it on the board. I know I measured and took pictures but they seem to be no where in my phone.
I did find a shot of me holding it at least.
And go ahead and admire this giant...

Looks like some of you are out trying to get that stringer built up.

I tried for a little bit this evening but things were just not working out. I caught a dink pitching a 4" Pit Boss so I upped my game to a Popa Pit Boss 5" version and it was just a couple of pitches later I got a very very nice bite. I went to give it a standard hookset of your average 255lb man and my Powell Mag Heavy rod shattered. I know it is their lower end rod but this is the replacement rod I got as the one before it shattered also. Its a shame I like the rods feel, the hook keeper, and the weight. I will be looking for a new Dobyns sooner than I expected I reckon. Anyone know if his new store is open in Texas yet?  ;D

I did manage to stick me one other fish. Nothing special but I had storms all around me and the lightening was getting to close so I called it a day.

Man I sure needed that big mamma that rod cost me for my stringer this month.  :(

Yeah I didnít do anything but lay the pieces out the way the broke. I havenít ever had one literally shatter like that before.
I always keep rod sleeves on my rods when not in use and try not to damage them but sometimes things just happen.
Iím still thinking about that one that got away lol

"If you don't have a picture it don't count." That's what somebody said to me a while back. Whatever.

I fished Harry S Truman Lake for the first time in 18 years yesterday afternoon, and fishin' was GOOD. It was however a long time between bites- they suspend in the timber in the summer here and you can spend a lot of time lookin' for the right trees.

I caught a five pounder on my very first drop with a Doc Irv 10" worm. Got out my ruler, and my camera would not power up. The dang thing worked fine at the house. Grrr... And I'd left my Virb in the truck, five miles away.

Anyway, my best five weighed 6-1, 5-7, 4-4, 3-11 and 3-3. I had fun too.

They all came on the big worm. But just as I was getting ready to quit I put a blue jig down next to a huge Sycamore tree. It stopped falling- I put the WHOP! to it, and that fish liked to pulled me out of the boat for about two seconds before she came unbuttoned.

Wow.

So I guess I've killed this Canon camera, although it's working here in the restaurant this morning. It's not an outdoor camera at all- I think the heat may be messin' with it. So I stopped at Wally World last night and bought a cheap waterproof Polaroid to take it's place. The Virb doesn't have a viewfinder and is horrible at up-close and personal stuff.

I advise everyone to have some sort of backup in place for the IBass stuff. This is the second time that I've lost fish 'cuz of camera issues and I was CARRYING backup.

Dale if you said you caught them I believe you. To bad your camera didn't work. I take my CASIO camera and also use the camera on my smart phone to take  ;PHO) of my fish if I ever get out to catch any fish for IBASS  :'(

I know how you feel, I dropped my phone in the lake after taking pictures of a 5 fish bag back in December. Cost me the 5 fish and an $800 phone.

I would guess a defect in the way the blank was rolled.
Notice how the two pieces that broke are the exact same length? Too coincidental to be much else imo.

I've been thinking of trying to come up with a way of making a tether for my phone. I need to get on that. I've dropped darn near everything else in the kayak.
It's real easy to get excited after cat hing something and taking a picture, and forgetting you just set the thing in your lap. I've had a couple close calls already.

I know that's outrageous what they charge for them smart phones. Your better off without one.

You need to rig something up before you do drop it off in the water. It's easy to do when you have it on your lap and get busy doing something with the fish and forget all about where it is at.

I had taken a picture and laid the phone on my deck. I open a rod box and it flipped over the side. Caught it all on my gopro. Was only in 8ft of water and I was taloned down but there was no one else around and I've seen some giant gators in the area. I think I posted a picture of it going over on the FL board. I keep it in my pocket now!
