Fish N' Fool Knot: New to me Fishing Knot
« on: July 29, 2018, 12:13:39 PM »

Just like the thread title reads, the Fish N' Fool knot is an old fishing knot, but its a new knot to me that I stumbled across a couple of days ago.

I was instantly attracted to this knot the moment I saw it. I have been using a version of the cinch knot for years, and this fish n' fool knot got my attention because of the double wrap and cinch. The knot is basically a double wrapped Uni knot.

I practiced tying the knot for a while, and now I can tie it under a minute with out fail. Went frog fishing the following day with this knot,  and had 0 issues. This is one tough knot. If you're  looking to tie something different or just curious, check this knot out.

That is an old knot.So it works good on braid ? I could see where that would be easier to tie with some baits than the Palomar Knot .

Worked great on my braided line.
Next time I'm out I'm going to have to try it out.

Been using this knot for many many years.  For sure it is a good one and I can't ever remember a knot failure.

It just the old Uni knot with one extra loop at the start.

The uni is what I used when I used flouro. It's a good strong knot that works well with any line type.

Thatís the only knot Iíve ever used. Mostly because my dad taught me how to do it years ago and I never forgot how to tie it. Iíve never had any issues with it but I do want to learn a new knot just for poops and giggles.

I haven't used it, my goto is the palomar but I see where it would be a very good knot.

I said that once when Fishin Fool was posting regular on a forum I was on.  I ummm was able to pass gas in stereo after he got done telling me it isn't, it was his own idea.   :o

It won knot wars a while back, and is a good knot, I use it once in a while when in a bind.

I use the standard uni when throwing smaller baits.  If I am frogging or other heavy topwater then certainly use the fishing fool knot.

If you haven't tried it look into the San Diego jam knot. It's kind of the same idea as this, with a twist or two.

I used that for a while and it's a great knot. Due to a combination of sausage fingers and tremors from a neurological condition it just got to be too much work. I have gone back to the old standby Palomar knot for most everything now.
