High Visibility Braid is Awesome!!
« on: August 14, 2018, 12:37:05 PM »

Over the last few months I have been experimenting fishing with yellow high visibility braid. I wanted to improve my frog fishing hook ups, and I figured the yellow line would help me see the braid better when I cast my frog into the thick of things. When I starting using the yellow braid, my main concern was how visible the line appeared in the water. But my concern quickly disappeared as soon as the first bass blew up on my frog. The yellow braid allowed me to confirm if my frog was inhaled and what direction the bass was heading after the blow up. Those 2 pieces of information are critical to me when frog fishing.

I have been fishing with high visibility yellow braid ever since, and I don't see myself going back to the traditional darker colors either. My frog fishing has not been effected by the yellow braid. On contrary its improved!! My hook up ratio has increased and my misses have decreased.

So, if your looking to improve your chances of landing more fish, I would definitely give yellow braid a shot.

I just started using hi-viz too and it makes a big difference, I can see what my line is doing now. I don't think I could go back to regular line.

Glad to help George. I use old reliable, regular Power Pro 50-65 lbs for frogging.

Its funny, cause one of my biggest fish came of yellow braid. I was with Martin on Lake Coral Springs, and was tossing baits with it. He said that I wouldnt catch anything because of the yellow braid. So I tied on a baby brush hawg (this is where the whole "gay lobster" thing came from  lo ). Pitched it into the grass flat we were floating over, and WHAM!

I looked on my Wal mart store and they didn't have what I wanted in the size and length so I went on Amazon and found some Power Pro 150 yard of 50 lb Hi Viz for around $16 and free shipping. If I like it I can then order a larger spool of it. Should be here by Friday and I will put it on my Frog reel and my spinning reel and then try it out the first cooler (or overcast) day we have.

i ply the clear water of table rock, yes even daytime, with hi-vis yellow line.  i seem to catch as many bass as the people in the boat throwing floro.  line visibility has never been an issue with me other than for me to see.  the bass could care less.

I use hi-viz pro-cat braid on my catfishing rigs, and have noticed it's much easier to notice any action happening. I've been wanting to go to hi-viz for bass fishing ever since I found this catfish line.

The color switch has been a game changer for me. Especially during the brightest parts of the day. Yellow braid and a white frog. Best combo to confirm if you frog was inhaled. 1. The white color contrasts well in the water, after the blow up, if the white is gone, that means the frog has been inhaled.  2. You can clearly see where the fish is heading after the blow up.

Yeah, I'd never really thought of how critical seeing the line movement can be when bass fishing. There've been several this year I only managed to catch because I noticed my line wasn't where I thought it should be.
Most mono I've used for cats in the past had a florescent tint, so it was still easy to see. Then this braid I'm using for 'em? It's like a bright neon green, and like you said, it's been a total game changer. I can see the most subtle taps that don't even make my rod tip wiggle. And I don't even consider it great line for sensitivity, it's built for durability.

It's awesome to have high VIS braid line. I use the white ones only for the wacky rig. I have the blue line for frog which I might replace it later on with yellow.

I have been wanting to try using hi-vis braid this year. Haven't so far but will for sure.

If you are one of those folks that feels the hi-vis will be an issue with the fish seeing it, you can always take a dark colored sharpy pen and apply it to a couple of feet of the line near the lure.

I have been experimenting with several Hi-Vis braids this year as well. I have seen absolutely no reason for me to consider not using a line I can see. I pitch a lot into cattails and it is very hard on braid.

I tried some of this BPS XPS Hyper Braid. I wouldn't give it to a enemy. Knots do not hold well at all and after breaking off numerous times I stripped my reel and haven't looked back.

Trilene Tracer Braid Professional Grade has been pretty good. Color held quite well, no bleeding, knots stayed tight. The only issue was a very minimal fluffing at times but I didn't see any noticeable degradation in strength.

I also have had really good results with Sufix 832 Advanced Superline Hi-Vis Yellow. It does fade some over time but its still a very easy to see light yellow and does not bleed all over everything.
I caught a sale and loaded up.  lo
