Escaping the Cave
« on: September 15, 2018, 05:39:18 PM »

Today, we finally got to get out of the house.  Not very much wind and very little rain.  Temps in the high 70s but humidity running about 97%.  So it is really muggy around these parts.  After unhooking the ranger, we jumped into the Expedition and headed down the road towards Murrells Inlet.  Not restaurants open but a couple of quick stop stores were open.  As we continued down the road no damage was seen and soon we come upon an open grocery store.  We went in and picked up a few things even though there was not a lot to choose from.  The store was super busy so all one had to do is be patient and get through the check out line.  With a truck load of some of our favorite items we headed for home.

Tonight we decided on a Chinese meal.  We had White steamed rice and Honey Chicken.  The chicken was one of those PF Chang frozen bags that all you had to do was put it in a skillet and cook it for 8 minutes.  I must say it is really good.  Rice is rice and it topped off the meal just fine.  So the deal is how nice it was to get out of this boarded up cave we have been trapped in for the past 4 days.  Winds continue to diminish and the rain has just been enough to be a nuisance. No flooding here at the house and we are grateful.  I now am enjoying a nice after supper cup of coffee and chilling with a casual smoke just to top off my reward meal.

Our bug out bags are still in tact and with the added food from the store today we did not have to dip into the emergency resources.  I guess it can't get much better than that.  Folks who evacuated are still not permitted to return but I suspect they will allow some to return tomorrow especially down by Charleston.  Here in the NE corner of the state folks may get to come home on Monday but that is still unknown at this time.

We want to thank everyone for checking up on us during this storm, it let us know that someone out there was worried about us.  Believe me when I say that was a real comfort.

Enjoying retirement in the great Pacific Northwest.  I've turned into a fair weather angler.  Why do it today when I can do it tomorrow?

Glad everything is ok, Bud. Amazing how something like Chinese food can make things seem normal.
