Motor Shaft Length
« on: September 21, 2018, 02:53:11 PM »

In my day Bass Boats always had a 20" Shaft.  I am seeing more and more ads for motors with 25" Shaft.  Am I to assume this was probably a salt water motor at one time or are some boats these days using the longer shafted motors.

You got me Bud? I've never had the option of shaft length. Mercury told me what I was going to have. I can see where a longer shaft would allow for the same motor to plan out a longer boat easier. So maybe it is a salt water thing.

Up here a long shaft motor is for a sailboat, there sterns are very high.
