Might be a scam but knowing EBay and PayPal will stand by their customers I took a chance.

Good luck, I hope it's not a scam, but the likelihood that it is, is pretty high. An SV at that price is a phenomenal deal, if it's real.

After 3 days and numerous failed attempts at contacting the seller I am now totally convinced this was a scam and I have taken the necessary steps with eBay and PayPal to get my money back.

Now you are gonna have to be patient and let ebay handle the issue.  It is a fairly elongated process and most likely won't happen real quick.

I've taken a chance on eBay, expecting a scam but keeping my fingers crossed that I was getting a steal. It took about three weeks, because I had to give the seller a reasonable amount of time to respond, then either eBay or Paypal tried to contact the seller and had to give them a reasonable amount of time to respond before issuing me a refund.

Then, for some reason it takes several days to have money refunded, even though when you purchase something the money leaves your account almost instantaneously. I still don't understand how or why it works that way. If it takes .03 seconds for my money to disappear, why TF does it take 3 days for it to reappear?

Agree with you 100%!!
I've reached out to the original seller, EBay, and PayPal. Have yet to hear back from any of them I did see where eBay now has the listings as "You have committed to pay" with a red colored background where a few days ago it had me listed as paid. Progress I guess but agree it should not be taking this long.

Fortunately you recovered your $$. Lesson learned. If it sounds to good to be true on Ebay, its more than likely a scam.
