Small City Lake in N.E. Texas Oct. 11, 2018
« on: October 11, 2018, 08:50:32 PM »

Had a couple hours OK maybe 4 total hrs to get away. I drove over to the city lake that is close to my home.

I unloaded the SeaArk at close to 2PM. It was clear blue skies and a about a 7 mph NNW wind and about 70 degrees.

The water was maybe 12" to 18" visibility. I found that interesting as we had rain yesterday and typically this lake is like 6" of visibility after a rain. The water temps are dropping as the cold front showed up last night and the rain all helped to pull the temps down. I didn't get a exact reading but id say around 23C would be a pretty close estimate based on the previous readings.

This lake has basically a single fork where there is only a left or right side to explore. You go south and head away from the dam towards the shallow flats and take the right hand side. The right side is a yearly frog heaven.  :) It always covers itself with large pads that I love to work.

Based on previous trips I know the pads is where I was headed. A lot of the bait fish have been pushed up back in this area and the bass have been holding in these pads gorging.

Tools used today. I had a KVD Sexy Frog I had tied on from my trip the other day. It was in great shape. It was also a tad smaller than what I had typically thrown so I figured what the heck. Might get a few more strikes with it being a little smaller profile.

I had this frog on my Powell Max 3D 736 CEF Frog Mag Heavy rod with a 7.0:1 Quantum Energy PT E100 reel. Its spooled with 65lb Hi Vis Yellow Suffix 832. Today it was all I needed.  ;D

Right at 5:30PM I was loading the boat headed home. Wanted to keep slinging them in the boat but had stopped up plumbing and the plumber was coming at 6. :shocking:

Here is a sample of the better sized ones.  ;D I think I caught a total of 7 the one small one was about 14" The rest were 18" and up. The largest was slightly over 19.50"
