Dobyns fury 764 for A-rigs and small swimbaits???
« on: November 10, 2018, 03:41:23 PM »

Wanting a rod to throw A-rigs and have some smallbaits such as 5 inch bullshad islide 135 and deps 145 I'd like to throw on it too. Just having a hard time deciding what rod to chose I have a broken fury so thats why I was looking into getting another one just different model than what I had before and didn't know if the 764 would be sutiable to throw such baits. If not I'll probably spend the extra money and go with the champion 794 unless someone has a better rod choice.

Let's see if we can get Gary to help out here. I know I've never been disappointed with a Champion Series rod and Gary does a fantastic job labling them so if you have the extra money I'd definitely make the jump.

I throw ~3 oz A rigs on my 795sb with ease.  have tossed other 3-3.5oz topwaters as well with no problems.

I'm guessing you mean 765 Flip Fury series here. No 764 Fury in line up.

I would suggest the 794 SB Champ as the #1 choice for these baits. There are several others that'll throw them, but I believe in this case 794 SB is best. Also, it's a great 10 XD rod too. That bait is a man killer to fish all day and the 794 SB really helps tame it. THX!!!!
