Getting the itch...
« on: November 13, 2018, 10:46:08 AM »

So I stopped by my local shop last night and started strolling through the fishing section. I noticed some shiny, new rods with lime green logo's on them. To my surprise, they were Dobyns Fury rods! After picking up a few and checking them out, I noticed a second smaller rack of rods that was full of Champion series. SCORE!!!

I immediately got on the phone and called my buddy ZippyDuck to let him know that our local shop finally started carrying Dobyns rods after years of asking them to finally stock them.

I probably don't need a new rod, but I'm getting a really strong itch to pick up a 734C. The Dobyns bug is very contagious folks.

Problem with a new rod is that it always needs a new partner too, which only adds to the fun  ;D

Well, I did it. I pulled the switch and bought myself the 734C. Not only that, the bait monkey got me good. I walked out of the store and went right back in and decided to buy my father a 704S as a Christmas present.

Despite the lousy weather this weekend, I managed to get out on Saturday and break it in. It was a balmy 33* in central PA with a nice 10-15mph wind, all the while a steady misting rain. I took a pack of 3.3" Keitechs and a 3/16oz jighead down to my uncles farm and threw around until my hands went numb, which was only about 20-30 minutes. I even managed to catch my first fish to break in this awesome rod. Despite this finesse presentation, this rod paired with a Chronarch 201D7 was able to bomb this little bait out there as far as anyone could ever ask for.
