Scorpion DC
« on: December 15, 2018, 07:52:40 PM »

After sorting through my tackle last week, I managed to half fill a box of old slightly used crankbaits that I have collected over the years and WILL never use, took them to my local tackle shop that took them off my hands for $50 give or take. I then put in and extra $60 and walked out with this slightly used Scorpion  DC7, 7.0:1 ratio.

I don't know much about this reel, do you think I got a decent bargin?
There is another one in the store in slightly better condition goin for $150. If it's a decent deal I might pick that one up too.

They used to be highly sought after here in the states. JDM kept all the cool stuff over there.

When it's cleaned internally, you're going to love it.

As far as value, brand new here in the states Amazon is selling them for $400  ~read I have no clue what you could get a new one over there for.  :-\

I'd say if you are not afraid of road rash, and the fact that you clean your own stuff, it's worth it. Just play with it well to make sure a thumb bar, or finger hold isn't going to fall of any minute.

Thanks Mike, it seems I have gotten a pretty good deal. If the other one is still in the store on Saturday, I may have to snap to up   ;D

All of my reels have carpet rash and it doesn't bother me in the slightest. Mechanically it seems great, but I will be tearing it down this week (along with all my other reels) and getting it ready for the spring.

Very good, and underrated reel. Based on the infamous E series reel, its a workhorse reel being a JDM DC reel. Not very sought after, since its not a popular DC system compared to the Antares, Exsense, Metanium, etc. That Scorpion dominates on the PE setting with braided lines. Enjoy

Thanks for the input Matt   ~c~
The spool on this thing spins beautifully and so freely. I was thinking about pairing it up with a light action rod that I just happen to have, 8lb fluoro and using as a finesse set-up.
