Another TAT on the way
« on: June 04, 2019, 08:36:47 AM »

I finally pulled the trigger on another Daiwa SVTW103.  This time I bought the 6 gear version.  I really did not need one but the wants got the better of me and besides for $100 it was a good buy if the pictures are accurate.  If not then live and learn.   So thinking positive, I now realize that I am gonna be a rod short for my Daiwa stash.  I am thinking that a Dobyns 703C might just fill the bill as a pseudo finesse tool for t rigs, wacky set up or small swimbaits.

I have determined that the monkey gets a lot more active when the boat is in the shop and we old geezers have time on our hands.   ;D

This is true. I almost bought two new shimano reels the other day for no apparent reason. I've got six sitting here on the shelf. They only thing wrong with them is they aren't brand new....

But sounds like you do have a need to fill...

The new to me reel arrived today.  Looks like I got very lucky.  I would say the condition is like new.  I don't think it has been used at all.  No marks or scratches and the mechanical operation is as it should be.  So I got luck with my $100. offer for this reel.  Now I gotta get serious about a rod to go with it.

Bud,

Anymore where you got that one? Looks like I will have the opposite problem of more rods than reels.
There will be a few more Dobyns headed my way.

Love the Dobyns series 703, but for finesse I picked up the Major Craft Don Iovino finesse rod. It pairs well with SV. Super light, and balanced well. For some guys it may feel too light. Itís insanely sensitive and great for bottom contact. I throw Ned, Neko, weightless t-rigs..

I just wish the Bait Monkey had stayed out Bud's way.  Unfortunately he thinks we are buddies and visits me on a regular basis.  Costly for me so the 'buddy' feeling is only on his side.  I won't mention how many rods and reels are sitting in my basement that haven't been used yet.   ~xyz
