Check your tires.
« on: September 28, 2019, 01:22:14 PM »

I just brought my boat to my shop to repack the wheel bearings.  Just checked the tires while I had them off. Thought they were in good shape.  This is what I found.

Glad you caught it now. That could have been an unpleasant event if you discovered it while on the road.  :surrender:

Thanx guys.  I went on an 120 mile round trip last weekend. Could have been a bad day.

Wow!! That was a close call, fortunately you caught this in time.

For all of us that own boats with trailers reading this thread, what were you going by initially that made you think these tires were in good shape? I ask because, what you say can be a huge help for many us when we inspect our trailer tires.

Good catch, this could have been dangerous and costly if that tire blew on the highway.

OC, tks for the posting.  Nothing worse than break downs while traveling.  I did a check of my trailer tires this past Monday while I was working on the trailer lights.

Glad you caught this before your next outing.

Good catch, looks like the tire was low on air, center tread looks like it's worn more than the outer.

Great catch, just saved a lot of road side heart ache....

I learned a lot about tire life this past year, I blew all four tires on the road before I asked my tire guy "WTH". I always fought to keep pressure right but tires wear in funny places, especially trailer tires as they don't have alignment tools. Also trailer tires have a shelf life. Until this boat I had never kept a boat over 12-18 months. I've had this one 4 years and while the tires looked okay out side they were struggling inside. :surrender:
