last evening
« on: October 27, 2019, 08:30:40 AM »

was supposed to get up and go first light.  just got goofy.  slept in cause if felt right.
then, was on that time cusp:  go now and miss a key afternoon football game?  or watch the game and head out for a few hours in the evening?

stayed and watched the game (OU vs KSU.  good guys won!  not even and SEC QB could change that!).  then went out about 4PM.  ON water about 5 as I had to find an alternate boat ramp (tournament take out and they were not interested in moving fast  ~rant)  Chester Frost Park, Chickamauga lake.

the weather was interesting.  72F and humid.  Rain showers moving through.  not enough to put on the rain gear.  Stayed in the Dallas Bay working from boat ramp to back of bays.

tried a frog in the grass:  nothing
worked a buzzbait along the grass lines:  nothing
moved to a weedless underspin with a rage swimmer 3.75 and t hings picked up.

swung 3 over the sides that were 16-17 inches and 'square-built'.  when they hit, they felt mUCH bigger.

Interesting day as they were schooling a bit and every once in a while one would breach.  full out of the water.  those fish I couldn't seem to catch.  always a little out of range for the spook and by t he time I got there they had dispersed/moved and the swimbait hauled a lot of water.

not often I see bass just jumping out of the water.  saw it three times last night.  they all looked like solid fish.  closest one I saw (about 40 feet away) was estimated at 4lbs?

saw one very large specimen in a windblown pocket that I will say was well over 10 pounds.  that caught my attention.

anyway, not a bad effort for a 10 minute truck ride and about 2 hours on the water.

and congratulations to my KSU Wildcats!
