I would rather a precise cast than a long bomber any day unless I'm using swim bait or jigs. Then distance is nice but at that distance can the reel really handle the long range hookset? Probably. Does the drag really come in at what they say? Also probably. But then again, smooth calculated drag beats heavy skippy slippy drag.

The "old" guys here know I fished Dobyns rods/Lews reels for years ...but... as a Guide I get to "try" lots of other toys

I will say I spent the day chucking 1/2oz jigs on my DX 745 with an 8.1:1 Concept Z. and banging some 4&5 lbers in the thick grass...for $79 from LBF, I'd buy a doz real quick! The other reel I really was amazed by was a KastKing Royal Legend Elite...never threw a 3/8 jig that far in my life

That being said...I'm happy where I'm at, but, there are some really amazing reels out there under $100...How long they'll hold up ...time and Mike Cork will tell us

Although I have never had the privilege of owning a 13 Fishing reel or rod, iv always said that one day I will. I just love the design and have heard so many good reviews on them. Just a lot of money for someone like me. Awesome looking reel mate. Enjoy it and good luck fishing .
