Phenix Feather Casting Rods senko, texas rig/creature baits
« on: September 19, 2020, 11:34:18 PM »

Checked out the 6'9" or 7'1" MH XF Phenix Feather Casting Rod tonight and it feels great. Looking to make it a weightless senko to texas rig/creatures with no more then 3/8oz weight. Would this rod work good for this or should i just add another dobyns fr 703c to the line up??

The Phenix is a great rod for the money. super light. I do think they fish a touch soft relative to the power.
If 3/8 is total weight you should be ok. If it's a creature bait plus a 3/8 oz weight I would step up to a heavy power.

If I had the decision to make, I'd step it up a bit and go with a Sierra 683C, but I'm real partial to my Dobyns rods.

I ended up getting the phenix but im second guessing my decision now. I was thinking if i dont like it for 3/8 to 1/2oz or less single hook lures I could possibly use it for topwater but the XF action isnt probably good for the treble hooks.
