Why can't you use the uni with dropshot? I don't but don't see a reason why you can't. Aaron Marten uses a double uni.

I don't think you'll get a useable tag end and the hook out perpendicular to the line like you will with a polomar.  You can use it if you use the "spin shot" style hook.

I used to use a palomore knot for drop shot but would bread off occasionally . I found this knot and been using it ever since and have had no problems.

But if you get a tag end and it sticks straight out with a  spin shot it should with just a regular hook. IMHO
I don't see it not being doable, a tag end is easy  and the hook should be able to be moved to straight.

I tie 3 knots:

Snell: pitching and punching
Modified Uni aka: Fish n' fool knot: power fishing
Uni knot: for everything else.
*Curious hat knot do you use with a spinner bait ? ... I have mainly used a Improved Clinch knot in the past but may switch over to the uni knot moving forward .

For spinnerbaits, I tie the Uni-Knot.
