I just got back from a three day trip as a back seater and was limited to seven rods. I needed two rods to be versatile so I chose my Xtreme 743C and Xtreme 703C to cover several baits and applications. MY Champion 805CB Glass was dedicated and really shined. Love that rod.

Anyway, I fished the 743C a lot. I had to use it for medium crankbaits like the 6th Sense Cloud 9 #10, and Normans DLN. It worked really well. I also threw 1/23 ounce wobble heads, vibrating jigs, spinnerbaits, and a 1/2 ounce Dark Sleeper. The 703 was used for Curve 55's, jerkbaits and some heavier shaky heads. To ask a bottom contact rod to do double duty with moving baits was needed but these models really shined due to the active tips and good transition to lock up. These models really made the trip successful. By the way, they choked that Dark Sleeper. I'm a fan now!

The three power rods are super versatile in every situation outside of heavy grass.

Great feedback on a lot of bait choices, thank you for detail.

I used to believe the three powers were just too light for a lot of my cypress tree work but I've discovered they are perfect for a wide range of reaction baits. Once you hook up and load with a three power it does and amazing job moving a bass yet keeping them pinned.
