I still regularly use a 5' 6" pistol grip casting rod, mostly for short cast spinnerbait fishing, and some topwater. I always will.

Those short 5'6" rods have a following. Big bucks on ebay for Fenwick HMG 5 and 6 power pistol grip.
My grandkids are fishing with me and I found that mated with a Zebco 33 they do pretty good handling better fish. Have 2 so far and would live another if anyone wants to part with.
I tease my tournament partner who's jig rod is the same as my granddaughters. It does good work for him around targets like boat docks and pontoons
