because it looks like y'all are gonna have company!

Legend's offer to Ike 11/21/2006

In a Dock Talk item last week, BassFan speculated that Mike Iaconelli would soon sign a deal with one of three boat companies: Bass Cat, Skeeter or Legend. But there wasn't any news of pending offers. There is now. Legend national sales manager Jamie Cyphers confirmed that the company reached out and made a substantial offer to Ike.

"Legend Boats is extremely interested in Mike Iaconelli," Cyphers said. "Like every other company, we weighed the pros and cons of having an angler of his personality onboard, but we're also aware that he could bring our brand awareness to an all-time high, and he could make us a household name overnight."

Cyphers added: "We also understand, that with the cutting-edge and more aggressive custom-type boat we're building, he's a good fit. He's a young guy, and we're a young company. So we think that nationally, he'd be a good fit for our boat."

According to Cyphers, Legend actually made an offer to Ike prior to this year's Bassmaster Classic, and the current offer is "a multi-year contact offer a very nice contract offer."

> Legend's national pro staff currently includes Gary Yamamoto, Ben Matsubu, and Craig Dowling, who recently qualified for the 2007 FLW Tour. It also supports a number of regional anglers and five Women's Bassmaster Tour competitors.

:roll2: This has been in the works for a while now and nothing is set in stone yet ;) Gonna have to wait it out and see what happens. I personally think he would be great for the company :-* Love him or hate him, everyone wants to know what Ike is doing.

It's good deal for Legend. But, once the increased intrest/sales are generated; I wonder how the production times will change?

One thing that Dean and Gary (owners) both agree upon is that they don't want to cut quality for quantity, and they will not build more than 4 boats at a time. It takes a little over a week to build a boat so, if the orders come flooding it, the wait time is definitely going to get longer.

There are a lot of factors that go into the Ike deal and a lot of issues to work out, I don't have my hopes up yet but we will see before to much longer.
