Le-21/250 merc xs
« on: March 14, 2007, 09:29:54 PM »

Ran several boats today, but felt this crowd may be interested in this one. Le 21 with Merc 250 xs. Very light load and two 200lb guys.Only ran one prop on the boat it was a lab finished 28P Bravo 1. The prop had a slight hesitation on intiall hit of the throttle but ran flawless from there. I thought it should carry the bow better. Ran an eyewatering 75.3. We then took the prop back the shop and massaged it a little bit. Our next results were the hesitation was gone and a pick up of 2mph was nice to see. The prop definitely carried the bow higher after the work. So we ended the day with a Legend running 77+ with two big boys riding in it.

Laurie and I are pricing out our next Legend and it looks like we are going to get the 250 XS, sounds like you have already got the prop figured out  :-* Guess I need to send the Trophy back to you and put a down payment on a prop  ;)

What motor height did you have it at?

Mike I liked the way the Bravo 1 carried the boat after our mods. I had a hydraulic jackplate so I did'nt take any measurments. I will try to get some tomorrow. The boat really likes the extra torque of the 250. I can't wait to play with one that has a 300 on the back

We have considered a 300 but the bigger tournaments still limit horsepower to 250's  :'( Keep us posted though on what that 300 does :-*

If you get a chance I'd love to know those measurements :-* BTW can we get the Bravo's through you?

I have not played with a 195 yet. I was running the 21 anywhere from 3"-3.5" below. I would start with the plate low and raise it up as I ran. From 3.5" up to 3" it really did not make much of a difference. If it had a manual plate I would have set it at 3.5" below. Real fun boat with the 250 on it. I could tell yall what the x2 ran with a 250 xs, but I don't want the Triton guys hating on me.

So are you saying a worked Bravo1 seems to be the key on the Legend hull?

I could tell yall what the x2 ran with a 250 xs, but I don't want the Triton guys hating on me.

Awww c'mon! Curious minds want to know! Those Toon folks don't ever look in the Legend forum! ;) :roll2:

The Bravo seemed to carry the boat real well. I do believe there are going to be faster props, but I was impressed with the over all performance of the Bravo.

Hey, Thats my boat.....!

What can I say, he's close with the speed.............. I took it out yesterday afternoon and here is what I posted on the BBC.

Totally empty before the work was done, I could get a constant 76.1 MPH GPS out of her without a lot of bow lift. Kind of hard to control, but not tooooo bad.

After the mods were made, totally empty, 79.75 MPH GPS and climbing. Hard to control, plenty of bow lift with a lot more left to raise it some more. I am loading it back up and will have the details on her next weekend.

Other notes...I had a slight hesitation on the holeshot until it loaded up and then out like a rocket...Now like a rocket from the get go. Handling and midrange have always been good, not a bunch of change there, i'll find out more next weekend.

Now Ill need need to put some weight in it and get back to you all on the mods.
