favorite spring bait

HI GANG,

AS AN OLD SOUTHERN BASSER I THINK A 4 - 6 INCH WATERMELLON LIZARD WITH A CHARTRUSE TAIL CAN'T BE BEAT IN FROM 2 - 4 FT OF 60 DEGREE WATER AROUND GRASS OR SOME SORT OF STRUCTURE. WHAT'S YOUR OPINION?

I've done well with Rapala DTF7 in Hot Mustard main creek channels.

Last week in fished in almost the same conditions and did very well fishing a watermelon 4" paddle tail worm on a drop shot rig and fishing it very very slowly with almost no action/movement.

Glenn,
I would say my favorite bait also in spring is some variation of a Lizard TX rigged with a 3/16 weight.  I normally fish watermelon seed and also pumpkin seed with chart tail.  Normally start with 6in and move to larger depending on the bite and size of fish.   Also a senko in watermellon black fleck, green pumpkin  or gold shad depending on water color.

x2 I have done well with this bait ripping it out of the grass to create lots of noise and vibration.
