Best Bass Fishing in Wyoming
« on: February 19, 2009, 10:35:13 PM »

Every year I hear about how there are only a few opportunities in Wyoming.  I have fished tournaments for years in Texas, and have to say...Osage Reservoir is some of the best bass fishing I have ever seen.  Near Osage, WY...a power plant impoundment...fairly small, only electric trolling motors allowed...great for tube fishing.  This lake has a warm water discharge 365.  This keeps half the lake unfrozen, but inaccessible.  When the ice breaks up, there are a few key indicators for when spawn begins.  One...watch for water temperatures 50 to 100 yards away from discharge of 65 degrees.  Second, watch for blackbirds nesting in the reeds.  Springtime yields great bass.  Very common to catch largemouth 3+ lbs, and occasionally up to 7lbs.  I expect the next state record to come from this lake.  Lots of sunfish and trout to help them reach bigger sizes, along with warm water sanctuary through the winter.  Bigger fish are easier to catch with senkos in shallow water in the spring.  When the turn on, they are ON!!!  I haven't figured out how to lure the larger fish in the summertime, but senkos continue to produce.  Almost every summer day yields 20+ bass and have experienced days with almost 80 (fishing hard all day though).  If you are looking to get your name in the record books, then go here (april - may).  I will only be in the state for a few more months, but if you are looking for a free guide, then email (michaelcorbettag04@yahoo.com).  Good fishing and good luck!  I'm off to spend my days on rayburn and toledo.
