The only water my boat has seen in the last 4-5 months has been the rain. ~rant

Maybe this Friday or weekend if I can work my schedule out.

I'm still trying to get my (new to me) boat home.  After I picked it up I dropped it off at Riverside to have the motor and trailer checked out.  Motor only needs a tune up, but the trailer won't pass inspection cuz of tires and bearings.  The temp tags are getting pretty close to expiring and I've been on their back on getting the work done.  Hopefully I'll get a "we're done" call this afternoon.

Ken I would keep on them. They aren't the most timely when it comes to getting things done as I have had some friends have issues with them in the past. I dealt with them when I was forced to buy a new trailer, but I will never deal with them directly again. Something about them just rubbed me the wrong way.

On a good note... I drove by the Bush today and the tide was high with the water like glass. Talk about perfect. ~cf

I checked weather.com at 11am yesterday and it didn't say anything about t-storms.  Went to work on the boat then all the sudden  ~rain

That really sucks that you were out in it.

Don't worry about it Bill.  I don't have my Frogg Toggs yet anyway.

Ken... if you can afford it I would venture away from the Toggs. I'm not saying you need to spend $300 on superior rain gear, but there are some better options than the Toggs. I have a Field & Stream rainsuit that I got from Dicks for under $100. Its not bib bottoms, but the jacket is long enough and tightens down so that you don't get wet. I fished in a steady rain last year for about an hour and never got wet. Not too mention I got caught in a VERY bad thunderstorm on the Bush River last year and even running at a decent clip it held up just fine. It has HydraProof Ultra written on the sleeve and mine is navy blue. I believe they had some camo ones as well as green ones last year. They were worth every penny and I didn't have to spend over $100.

In my honest opinion they would be better than the Toggs however, it would be what you liked and could afford. In this sport its not always how much you spend. ;) I just wanted to put out a note in case you stop at Dicks this week. I've looked at the Toggs and just feel as though they are poorly made. Then again as you saw the other night... some people swear by them. Good luck in the rainsuit hunting!

By the way... we will get you to lip your first bass soon. It will just take some time on the water.

I got 2 in the boat Sunday so now I'm addicted all over again. ~shade

Thanks for the advice and encouragement Hammy!

I hear you on the raingear.  I might consider spending some money since I could use a good rain parka.  I see your point about how cheap the Toggs look; basically Tyvek with fluff to keep it quiet.  But for the price and if people say they work...

Just so you know, I'm not really a bass virgin.  I've caught bass in TN and KY, which has led me to the pursuit in MD.  For 9 years since I caught my 1st LM in KY, I haven't been able to figure out how to do it in MD.  The past couple years I got more serious and I promised myself that I'm going to do whatever it takes to hook one (or many) this year.  I think I have a lot to learn from you guys.  Just from last week's meeting I didn't realize that the lack of rain raises the salinity of the bay, changing the ecology.  Great stuff!

Very nice. Well I'm sure you will boat your first MD bass within no time. ;D And I wasn't trying to sway you into buying anything different then the Toggs. I was just letting you know that there are some other cheaper alternatives then the $200+ rainsuits some people buy.
