I posted this in the Dock Talk thread, but I'll paste it here since this is where it should probably be:

I was there for a mini-boat/tube tournament this past weekend.  The wind on Saturday was about 20 gusting to 30ish out of the west, then south, then east.  Sunday was worse.  I fished west of Sardis Cove, along the south bank, on Saturday and only boated one keeper.  I mainly fished along the outside edges of the weed beds.  Probably had about 15 hits throughout the day (there may have been more I didn't feel due to the wind since I was fishing plastics most of the day).  There were a lot of dinks caught Saturday by everyone, with a few quality fish. On Sunday, after a cold front moved in, I tried the Narrows, which it turns out is not a good idea with a 30 MPH NW wind.  It's like a wind tunnel in there.  Gave it up after a couple of hours and headed out early.

The winner of the tourney had a 2-day weight of over 31lb.  I know he fished Buffalo Creek the first day, when he caught a 9.99 lb that looked to have recently layed her eggs (second hand info).  I was told he caught her between the weed line and the shore in very shallow water using a senko (color unknown).  I think he caught most of his fish very shallow inside the weed line and ended up with about a 16.5 lb bag.

I heard he also fished Buffalo Creek on Sunday and had a 15 lb bag.  Not sure if he was still using the senko, but I'd guess yes.  By the way, he was in a tube, so had easy access to those areas inside the weeds.

That was my first time fishing Sardis and it looks like a great lake, but with the wind, it was difficult to get where I wanted to fish in a small boat with no outboard.  You'd think a lake that size would have more boat ramps.

Edit:  Forgot to mention, while I was out fighting the wind on Saturday, some guy in the campsite next to ours (not in the tourney) fished from his mini-boat in the little cove right next to our campsites.  He was, I believe, using a Zebco with a chartreuse rattletrap.  He caught a 7.5 and a 4.  Not sure why I even try.
