I never got any feedback from my previous post about Blind Pony, and figured with it just opening back up recently it was getting pounded pretty hard, so my little brother Shannon and I decided to hit Malta Bend Lake on Hwy127. We got there and Shannon had spent most of his fishing time with stinkbait and looking for catfish, I was determined to open him up to bass fishing for fun. We went out to MB Lake and upon arrival I noticed about 5-6feet of duckweed/scum all around the lake...He was P.O.'d and I couldn't have been happier. I had purchased some Stanley Ribbits earlier in the week at the BPS in Columbia,MO and was hoping this would be a good chance to try it out, other wise I had bought some flukes in baby bass and a couple spinnerbaits, a couple cranks and jigs and some ribbon tail worms. Shannon set up his cat pole and I walked down a ways from him and launched the ribbit to the open water and gurgled it back, about 3feet from the shoreline...WHAM a bass slapped at it and missed! Shannon's eyes looked like saucers, he had barely put his nasty stinky treble hook in the water and I already had a bite. I set him up with a weightless fluke on a spinning reel since we only had the one baitcaster with braid on it ( i only had 2 frog hooks and didn't want to lose them...lol) I showed him how to fish the fluke and showed him in a clear spot the action of the bait as he twitched the rod, I had him cast to the open water at an angle to the bank then fish it in then just drag it across the scum. I finally ended up hooking up with a couple of good bass and I could tell he was getting discouraged, just then a good one nailed his fluke about 3-4feet in front of him... I could've swore that line or rod was going to break dragging the fish in with all that grass and crap..., I ended up breaking one of his rods which was a medium 2 piece rod. We ended up getting stormed on that day but didn't care, once the front started pushing through they were hitting like crazy, we finally left after the lightning got close and they stopped biting. We went back out the next day, and I had went to wal-mart and picked up a pinnacle and quantum torsion combo for him to learn with, i also picked up a couple scum frog type baits which turned out to work really well also. I took my mom and son out there Friday around noon, it was really hot and bright and we only ended up with one, my mom had a few blow up on the scum frog, but she didn't manage to get a hook in 'em, she still had a blast and told me she could kindof understand why I love to fish for bass so much.

I couldn't get the whole lake in one shot so I split it into two...

Here's my first attempt at stitching a couple of photos together to make a panoramic view...
