'Tis the season! The fish are done spawning, are cruising and sulking off bluffs, ledges, channels and timber. Good luck finding those keepers!

The second tournament of the 2009 CBA season had another strong field of 18 contestants. All had opportunity, but not all were able to execute on their chances!

The big surprise of the day was the "empty" livewell for Bryan Leck and John Santos. Mr. Leck was on a winning streak that finally, thank goodness, ran out of steam. When fishing for the win, you have to be ready to accept last place too! Both Bryan and John are "All or Nothing" fishermen, as they say! Better luck awaits both of them at the next tourney!

Larry Krueger finally was able to find some time to fish with our group. He and Bob Auen (Lil' Bob) started things off by taking the lead and setting the 2 fish limit mark at a weight of 4-11oz. Unfortunately, this group doesn't take it easy on newbies, so it didn't hold, but was good enough for a 4th place finish and good points. Good job by both of them and"Welcome to the points battle, Larry!"

The team of Lamont Gizzi and Jared Nikirk fished hard enough to get 2 respectable Largemouth to cooperate. Jared struggled to get that "keeper bite", but depending on a partner for back up is what this format is all about. Jared and Lamont were able to manage 4-14oz . A good weight for 2 fish, but only enough to solidify a 3rd place finish and gain those important points towards the Top 8, year end Championship.

The Team of Jim McCormick and his Labrador became quit the talk as Jim signed up at the last minute on Saturday and didn't have time to find a partner. Jim McCormick decided to fish by himself  and try to get it done with half as many lines in the water as the rest of the field. Good thing for us, he was handicapped! He managed to pull 2 nice post spawn Largemouths weighing in at 5-7oz! That weight was almost good enough to win the whole sha-bang, but fell a few oz's shy of the title. He did, however, have "Big Bass" of the tournament (3-6oz) and received the important 2nd place points towards the Top 8 Championship. Remember Jim, you can't fish with your Lab again!   lo

And now for the mother and son team of Jeanne and Greg Gizzi. They proved, once again, that the Kentucky Spots of Pueblo Reservoir, are the most consistant fish of weight in most of the tournaments and fishing for the Largemouths doesn't pay! Together they pulled 2 Kentuckys weighing in at 5-15oz, one of which tied for the "Big Bass" of the day! Both of them earn great points towards the end of the year Top 8 Championship, and Jeanne gets a major shove towards the Top Lady Angler of 2009 award. Congratulations, Greg and Jeanne, and thanks for spanking us all in public!

Once again.....Special thanks to Outlaw Bait and Tackle (719-227-7992) for sponsoring the 1st place trophies for the 2nd tourney of the year! Other sponsors include AL WEST Boat Service(719-635-2426), Smith Chiropractic(719-390-5404), Gift of Touch Massage(719-331-4656), Castaway Rods (719-491-2272), TY-REX Construction, Inc.  (General Contracting-719-390-2855) and Sure-Life Fish Care Products!
