I am headed to Big Cedar Lodge for a wedding the second week October and was thinking of taking some extra days to do some fishing.  Just wondering if anyone could tell me if the fishing is any good that time of year.  All I have heard about the lake is it is clear and deep and can be tough to fish.

The lake is deep, the lake is clear. Think 6, 8, 10 lb florocarbon (6 is better than 10) back off on the drags and have yourself a blast. Lots od Kentuckys, smallmouths as well as LMs. Best advice: hire a guide for half a day when you first start fishing, it'll be the best money you'll spend on the trip. They can show you the type structure to fish and what to use to have the best chance at catching a bunch. Big Cedar can hook you up with one or you can do it yourself online.

It is a bit too far out to predict exactly how deep they are.  They can move shallower in October if the water temp drops.  I totally agree about the guide reference.  Don House, Bill Beck , Bill Babbler, Eric Prey and many more guys would be great guides and well worth a half day.  You could figure it out the rest of the time by yourself.

Good fishing!
