I didn't vote because all but 2 of my reels are BPS . Some I have fished  8-10 years with no problems.
O.k. I voted  abu-garcia because thats what my other two reels are and I wanted to see the results.

Been using Quantum Reels for as long as I can remember and have never had a problem with them, in fact I still have the first two MG reels I bought back in the 80's, a few EX series also, and they still all work like new, although don't get used much anymore for I absolutely love the Energy and Tour PT reels.

I absolutely love my Shimano equipment. Been using Shimano for years and really haven't played with anything else since all the new designed are out in the past 5 years or so.

I do know that from my real cleaning experience, Shimano's are bullet proof, ABU's stuff is great, daiwa well let's just say I'd call them okay and Quantum has way to much plastic for my taste.

I will stick with quantum until I start to have problems but I have been fishing with quantum's for over 5 years and the only reason we have a shimano reel is because we got it cheap and figured we could use another reel. All others are quantum. Rods are mostly Quantum Superlites and I don't know of any other rod where the rod guides are double wound(top and bottom). We have not had a rod guide break yet and we have has these rods for almost 2 years.

99% of my reels are Shimano.  Before I retired from the guiding business, my equipment received more use in one season than most people's get in three years.

For me, it was simple economics.  I could buy a $59 - $89 baitcasting reel and replace it annually, or spend the additional dollars up front and get more life from them.  It would have actually cost me MORE to buy less expensive reels, and I tried them all.  Pflueger, BPS and Quantum were destroyed in a single season.  Daiwa held up a little better as did my Ambassaduer reels.  But by far and away, Shimano reels have given me the best bang for the buck.

And yes, my reels get cleaned/lubed at least annually, more often if needed.  Shimano has given me the best life.

OK, I'm the one that voted Pflueger, then Shimano. Had a Daiwa once and you couldn't pay me take another one...

I didn't vote because all but 2 of my reels are BPS . Some I have fished  8-10 years with no problems.
O.k. I voted  abu-garcia because thats what my other two reels are and I wanted to see the results.

Pflueger make all the BPS Reels...Steve

I voted ABU, since most of my baitcasters are ABU. I also have a Shimano Calcutta, which is sweet reel, and a Daiwa Viento, but haven't used it all that much.

My spinning reels are multi brands. I have a few Daiwa's, a few Shimano's, a Tica, and a few Mitchell's. Don't really have a favorite, they all do what I need them to do!  :)

I have seen this same type of poll pop up numerous times over the years here.   Its always pretty much the same Shimano doubles the next closest.   Abu had gained ground in these polls since the release of the Revo lines.   I predominatly fish Shimano but have added a couple revos.   Only time will tell how well they hold up but for my money in the 100 reel range the Revo S takes the cake.   In the 200 Reel The curado is King.   I started fishing with Quantum back in the early 90s.  All the reels I bought had issues with in a couple years.   I got poor service form Quantum and that was at their home office a few minutes from where I worked.    As for Diawa my borther fished them for years and they were the first good reel I ever used.  Never had issues with them.

It's a coin flip for me. The Revos (SX &STX) 7:1.1 and the Curados are all I fish.

I am a Shimano user all the way. But if I had to change, I would go with the Revos. Shimano just hasn't gave me any reason to commit adultry yet. I'm with Blake on the Revo line, it has really cut them in today's bass fishing market. I used the old Abus for catfishing, but I just don't find the comfort in the round reels for casting all day.

Don't remember if I commented or not on this thread.

I just use spinning reels and only use Mitchells for fresh water usually or Penns for salt mostly.

A lot of inshore stuff I do is with weightless live or cut bait, its more a finess kind of technique, and the spinning reel does it better for me hands down.

Started with Shimano years ago for no apparent reason and never have found a reason to change. I have tried several other brands owned by fishing partners and still like my Shimanos better. I guess I'm just use to them and have confidence in them.
