Anyone here from the West side of Iowa

I think you mean the east side.

Plenty of us East Siders in the house

South of your area a bit...plenty of good waters up around there...some places to start
1.  South of Sioux City look at Browns and Snyder Bend.  Both hold some good bass.
2.  Head north up I-29 to the Roy Lake area (Enemy Swim, Pickerel, etc)...excellent LMB, SMB and other species
3.  Head east and a bit north to the IGL's (Iowa Great Lakes)...West Okoboji, Central, East Okoboji, Upper and Lower Gar, Minnewashta...some excellent water to be had there...
4.  Too, you can head further west and fish the Missouri River...it has some excellent bass populations.  And some good fish to boot.

I'd probably know more, but Sioux City's about 1.5-2.0 hours drive north for me...sure there will be a lot more 'smaller' waters around to fish.

Don't turn up your nose at these smaller waters...they have some excellent populations of bass and some good ones.

Now, if you're used to Loosiana bass, your odds of finding a 10 pounder just took a serious hit...but you ought to be able to find a couple 5's and 6's during the year.  Plus, these northern fish don't ' go sulk' just because the temperatures drop a little...

I fished McCook in SD and caught 13 in about 3 hours. Nothing over 2lbs though. Hows the fishing in Omaha? Maybe we can hook up.

snyders is a very interesting lake.  about mid sep, it shrinks as a lot of it goes to 'wildlife refuge' and the remainder gets hunted by waterfowlers...so, if you like fishing with bird shot buzzing in the air...

Snyders is also a warm water discharge lake for a powerplant.  I understand you can sometimes find 70°F water in February...
about June, just after spawn, the frog bite comes on...Browns can be good with frogs too...although Browns has a ton of shad in it so finding fish that aren't too stuffed to hit a lure later in the year can be a little harder...

Take a look at RoyLakeResort.com for some info on the SE South Dakota Glacier Lakes region...first weekend in June is prime for all species...and about when the smallies are either on or just off the beds...and they're tackle wrecking footballs.

Beagle was only up there for a vacation, he's back in Louisiana now.
