ATTENTION COLORADO ANGLERS AND OUTDOORSMAN!!

Colorado State Parks has partnered with Aquatic Adventures Scuba & Swim in Pueblo West and joined the Project AWARE International Cleanup Day for the second annual “Land and Sea” Clean up at Lake Pueblo State Park.  Together we call on area divers,  non-diver participants and boaters to come and help clean the lake and shoreline of summer debris.  Last year nearly one hundred participants came and collected 1100 pounds of trash.  This year we hope to double the number of participants.  The event will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2009 from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm.
Project AWARE spearheads global underwater cleanups during International Cleanup Day and year round.  This annual volunteer event addresses the devastating impact of marine debris on the aquatic environment.
Project AWARE empowers dive centers and individuals to clean the world’s oceans, lakes, rivers and shorelines.  Volunteers take part in practical cleanup solutions and collect data which raises awareness and drives positive change.
Project AWARE International Cleanup Day event is the biggest underwater cleanup of its kind.  Held annually on the 3rd Saturday in September each year, more than 370,000 volunteers clean over 33,000 miles of shoreline to remove seven million pounds of rubbish.
Project AWARE (Aquatic World Awareness, Responsibility and Education) is a non-profit organization in the United States.  Project AWARE has created an international presence, forming organizations in the United Kingdom, Australia, Switzerland and Japan.  The combined efforts answer the urgent call for underwater conservation in 175 countries of the world.
Families and children are welcome to come and help collect trash too.   Prizes are awarded for the most trash collected with categories for children, divers, non-divers and boaters volunteering to transport divers to shallow coves.  Participant T-shirts and refreshments are provided.
If interested in participating in this worldwide event please contact Cindy Riggins at Colorado State Parks 719-227-2560 or Tracy Wynn, owner of Aquatic Adventures Scuba & Swim at 719-543-DIVE
