I usually fish Holt lake, Black Warrior & Tombigbee rivers.  I have never fished at Smith lake only just been there tons of times.  How is the largemouth Bass fishing?  Are there any spots there?  I here people say the fishing is terrible there except for Stripes and Cats.  Just wondering since it is so deep.  Thanks for any information!!!  Wondering if it is worth a trip or not....

I have not fished Smith Lake but twice in the summer and was unsuccessful both times.  But I hear that the spotted bass fishing is pretty good in March and April!

Thanks SexyShad for the help.  Just wondering how the fishing is there.  Have you been to Holt lately?  We have only been on the Tombigbee.  I caught a Three then a four pounder largemouth at a creek mouth opening on a Zoom Ol Monster a few weeks ago around Forkland but the last time we went we didn't even get a bite!!   Hope my husband can take off work soon so we can get to Holt.  I can't back trailer .... I just put boat on and off trailer into water.  Guess I will have to learn to do all of it if I am going to go solo... haha!

guys, that lake is full of spots and big LM, but honestly, if i had to choose, i would rather get my tonails ripped out by a mechanic than fish there...i hate that lake.  if you have to fish it, go up the river, throw a buzzbait and shakey head.
