Kentucky Derby at Beaver Lake

This Sunday is the Kentucky Derby out of Prairie Creek, details are Hook, line and sinker in Rogers. The spots seem to be schooling and busting top alot so it should be a tight run for the money. I have still found the biggest spots deep with a drop shot near bluffs. I had six yesterday with drop shot between points 7 and 8. I had some reports of 10-15 keepers back near Prairie Creek on spinnerbaits and top water.

In my defense I spent a lot of time on a jigging spoon catching big whites in the mouth of Fords creek. Alot of people are casting for the surfacing fish, but you can keep a steady flow and get better fish by dropping a spoon down about 30-40 ft. Just watch the fish finder and try to get the spoon under the bait balls, I had 15-20 fish over 3lbs from 7-9 am. A yellow spoon produced the best, with a white spoon with a dreesed hook a close second.

I made 3 trips down the white this week looking for the big largemouths and pulled skunks every trip, but that was late in the day. I am hoping for better luck this weekend by getting out early.

Side note there were 3 fish cages found this week with 3-4lb fish in them, they were released and the cages were destroyed so there should be a more even compention in the jackpots. If it was me I would have left them and watched them during the tourneys to see who was using them.

John,  I agree on waiting and watching the fish cages.  It would be nice to label who the cheaters are and weed them out.  I don't see how someone can feel good about a win that has to cheat to achieve it.
