Hey fellow UB'ers.  I just wanted to let you know that the Mariner Point Bassmasters fall tournament is scheduled
for November 7. 2009 on Conowingo Lake.  It is always a good time and a great way to wind down the season.

I have enclosed the entry form or you can download it form our website....

As much as I have enjoyed fishing these the last several years, not sure i'll be fishing anymore. The last one this past spring when 5 boats showed up with 35mph winds, small craft advisory and I was fishing with a 14yr. old (not mine) my $80.00 was kept and no refund offered. I had pre-paid. I know how things work, but due to the weather, the age of my co-angler and lets not forget i've fished both opens for the last 3-5 yrs, I just thought it was petty to keep my money like that after asking for a refund or to apply it to the fall open. Not trying to start a bunch of crap with anyone. Really left a bad taste in my mouth. Come on? Are we that hard up we have to act that way to each other. We all support each others clubs in these opens. Maybe i'm totally off base with this? I'm just looking at it from a some what moral point of view. Its just the point of it......What did the club "clear"...20 bucks off of me? I know there is a fine line here. If there had been 20 boats show with decent weather or what ever and I chose not to show up that would have been different. That would have been on me. I also understand I could've hung out in Joppatowne that day too. Thats always fun.... Bang It was a saftey issue for me on this particular day.

Just cleared my calendar, I will be there "rain or shine"!

Anybody know if there is a certain Hp motor you have to have. I have a buddy that is interested, but I think he has a 45hp....

I know some clubs have a limit to motor size

Thanks

As far as I know there is no restriction up or down on horsepower so long as it meets the rating of the boat.

I can remember fishing a Ratz TX out of HDG years ago and a guy there with a small tracker putted out as everyone flew by him. He putted back and won the tournament  Smiley Smiley

Most opens charge an extra $5 or $10 to register the morning of the tournament. I do not know if this tournament has that option but it is usually worth the extra cost, especially if it an iffy month like November.

Kenny you are right on, it's $10 more at the ramp.

And not wanting to start anything on here, if someone is worried about the weather that is exactly what you should do.  I have been doing tx's for many years and if I know where to hang out on windy days or don't care about rain (or snow) I would pre-register, knowing that it is non refundable. With the FOM we paid for the whole year in advance !!

Before I joined the club I fished this TX every year.  Good time, low key and a great way for some to finish up the year.

Weather looks good.  Chilly but light wind and no rain.  Might be my turn to try my new crank bait rod on the ledge in the hot water discharge and get me a big fish.  I figure there or your secret spot. Just South of Five Hole On the Cecil County Side with 5 or 6 boats on it.  Some Secret.

Hey FinFinder, I'm 50/50 now. Waiting to see my daughters soccer schedule for next Saturday. Was trying to make this one, but may have to do Daddy Day!

So what was the winning bag? How many boats were involved? Sure was a pretty day to be out fishing!

Man was it cold in the morning, and fogged in to-boot.  We had 7 boats go out and the winners came in with 5 smallmouth weighting over 17-lbs, with a 4-1/2 lb kicker.  Only 1 boat zero'd.
Thanks to everyone who came out and keep our spring open at Mariner Point in Joppa in the back of your minds.  Should be scheduled around the end of April.

There were several other bags in the 10-lb range - sorry I don't have the exact weights with me - but no one could challenge those smallies. Finfinder did manage to bring in a 12-lb bag with a 3 1/2 lb kicker but he's a member of our club and couldn't play!
