MBH Classic was this weekend, didn't place top 5 but was happy to weigh fish both days considering what happened.
Sat a.m. Cloudy and rainy so I made the call to go to Pondo. 8:15 boated a 17" and 8:30 we lost a vital tool in bass fishing, the trolling motor. The bearings went to lunch on the top of the shaft. Now your in a 19' Ranger 20 mph winds and no trolling motor, what do you do? Fire up the Merc 250 go up wind and drift back

. We boated about 20 fish doing this but made for a long day.
Sun p.m. Got home after weigh in and my partner calls me to tell me his boat will be down for the weekend. I started getting my 14ft'er ready when I got a call from a true friend. He demanded that I take his his $20k baby on Sunday. Now I remember growing up when you wanted to borrow something from a friend you had to beg and plea with them. This friend refused to take no for an answer, I was taking his boat he!! or high water.
Sun a.m. Bluebird sunny skies. Most people would stay far away from Pondo, but people that know me know I love that lake. 8:00 I noticed the bail assembly coming apart on the reel I was using so I decided to stop and switch the jig to another rod. 3 flips later a 16 3/4" slams my jig. Glad I changed reels! Fishing slowed late morning so we decided to pull out and hit Monster. Backed down, unstrapped the boat, I hopped in and my partner started to back me in. Then silence, his truck shut off on the ramp. About an hour later with the help of a friend I called over, the issue was a ignition fuse, and back to fishing. Didn't place in the money, but after all that happened I was proud to simply weigh in fish both days.
