I use either a jighead or splitshot in any water deeper than about 8 ft.  it gets it down quicker, makes the tails vibrate more, and is something a little different for the fish to look at.

I remember laughing at it and then crying as we got our butts kicked in a tourny by two guys wacky rigging french fries. Now I keep a box with Owner Mosquito hooks and the new Jackyl wacky jigs in my boat all the time.

Fished a few small tournaments during the late summer and fall, caught alot of nice sized bass on a 3' inch wacky rigged senko. As a matter of fact me and a friend were fishing near two other buddys using alot of lures and we crushed the bass  with these wacky rigged senko's i would throw a wacky rig any day from what i have seen and done with it produces fish. I've gotta say, it's defiantly a smaller fish bait! I've caught a few big fish on them too though. I bet a 6" - 8" senko wacky rig could do it though!  Wink

I dunno about that.  Here's a couple fish that were pretty representative of our usual wacky rig stick bait fish.

Here's another

And yet another

All of these fish came on  4 and 5" stick baits, all of them wacky rigged, and all of them caught on light spinning gear.

Yes, small fish will eat them certainly.  But big fish won't turn them down either!  And I've found that to be true from central Ontario all the way to Lake Okeechobee for both largemouth and smallmouth.

When I was actively guiding, it was my go to lure because of the size and numbers of fish I caught using small, wacky rigged baits.

Wacky rigging can be used in both. When the bite is tough it will catch em'.
