All of my rods are aging and they are all a mixed bag of rods and I would like to getting some matching rods that are built for a specific purpose and that aren't bargain basement rods. I have been looking at the St Croix Mojo Bass series. I have played around with them at a local sporting goods store and really like the way they feel in my hand. I was wondering if anyone has them or a has fished with them and what they thought of the rods. I am open to other rods but I am trying to stay under 100 dollars a rod.

thanks for the help

IMO, for the price, they can't be beat. I got 2 of the crankbait series and absolutely love them. Only problem I have had with them is the reel seat. They need a few catches to break in and seat the reel good. If you get some, be sure to tighten them down every now and then until the are seated good.

I have recently started using the Maestro series by rapsody rods. they are a new rod with a special neice in the market. they only sell online, no middle man. Awesome rods, super reels seats. give them a look.

You might also want to take a look at some of the deep south rods. They are just over a hundred dollars and are exceptional! I have one as a worm rod and that thing is super sensative. Sometimes so much to the point that I can almost feel them thinking about biting it. LOL!!!!!  ~roflmaoNot really but you get what I'm trying to say. Very well built and I would imagine you can get them customized. Just go to google or another search engine website and type in "deep south fishing rods". Should take you right there. Good luck with whatever you choose!

I bought 3 Mojo rods this past year and I love 'em.  The only problem I have had with them, is the line likes to wrap around the hook keeper on occasion.  A bit of a nuisance, but I highly recommend them if you are looking for a less expensive rod.

I have bought two this year, the 7 ft mh (spinnerbait), and the 7 ft 6in mh (pitching) and love them both. As stated above, my only gripe is the hook keeper is in a bad place and the line gets under it too often when flipping.

I gotta confession here.. I'm a little confused on how (and why) you'd choose between the: Flippin' model, pitchin' model, and the jig-in-worm model. I mean you flip and pitch jigs, right. Then to confuse things further... there is a "plastics" models that in my mind would compete with the "jig-in-worm" model because afterall worms are plastics, no? I know I just reveled my udder stupidity on the subject of rods but who cares, can someone inlighten me on this. Seems like this nameing of rods should help to eliminate a lot of the guess work us noobs have but I'm not finding that to be the case.

The pitching stick is a bit more heavy duty and longer. Basically, I'm pretty sure the flip/pitch is a 7'6" Heavy/Fast and the worm/plastics is a 7' MH/fast. I personally use a heavier rod for jigs, and the combination they have would work well for me as those are the specs I prefer for each technique.

I bought a third Mojo last week at Dicks sporting goods.  I went to buy the St. Croix hoody they had on sale for 29.99.  The sales guy said he would give the hoody for free if I bought a Mojo.  I stated I would if he would sell me the rod for the stores website price of 89.00 and honor a 10 dollar off coupon I had.  So I got another 7 ft "spiinerbait" rod and a hoody for $70.00 Smiley

I'm going to get the Mojo crankbait rod or two next.

Take a look at the Lamiglass Excel series, a very nice looking American made rod that is right around $100. Its a good looking rod, with a split grip. I haven't had a chance to see one in person, but Lamiglass is a quality rodbuilder.

Other good options are the Abu Garcia Vendetta and vengeance series rods, I have heard great things about these sub $100.00 rods, and the wright and mcgill tessera Skeet rods.
