Yesterday the bass were schooling heavy on the upper end of Guntersville Lake (north sauty-jones creek is where we were)  In the first 2 hours we had 12 LMB with a large of 4lbs, ended with over 30, best 5 probably went 14-16lbs, so no tourney winning limit, but helluva lotta fun!!!!  We went into grass flats from 2-10ft of water, worked frogs on mats, but most bites came chasing the blow ups with chug bugs and x-rap jerkbaits.  I have never seen more shad, there were literally schools 3ft deep 20ft long and 8ft wide full of shad all around us, all day.  If you are going to guntersville in the fall, fish a popper all day, and if you wanna catch fish....it better be chrome and blue.   Laugh

You are certainly correct about the shad schools, I've never seen this many in my years of fishing Guntersville! I believe the Winter bite will be good as they school up in the creek channels, can't wait. The big boys will hammmer them as the water temp drops.
