don't know if my eyesight is on the fritz or what...
long as i can remember (past few years), theres been a big tree/log that sticks out in the water just east of carpenters point.
past couple times out on the flats i haven't seen it.
anyone know if someone pulled that thing out?
...or do i just need my eyes checked? lol.

There were 2 things on the point. One was the tree that you are asking about .  It has been there about 3 years.  Sat off the point about 50 yards, was an actual tree with a large trunk and a few branches. It has been slowly wearing away and breaking up, was gone a couple of months ago after a storm.
Then there is a " deadhead " ( large log that is stuck in the bottom and sits vertically or on an angle in the water ) that was usually only visible at low tide, it was a large one about 12 " diameter and was on an angle stuck in the bottom...... that was about the same length off the shore as the tree, only was on the Northeast side of the point.  That one is still there.

Yeah, I get real nervous everytime I go around the point cause I can't see it anymore. That would surely take a motor off the boat. Would be nice if it was still marked with a jug or bouy

I saw the hazzards off Carpenter pt. yesterday. There was 3 or 4 jugs marking them. all were different hazzards.
