Hi!
« on: November 04, 2009, 08:12:21 PM »

I have been visiting this site now and again by accident. Everytime I google something I get sent here so I decided to register. You guys have a great wealth of info that I have found time and again helpful in fishing and buying the gear i use. Thanks!

This brings me to my post.

A few friends have planned a trip to Smoke Hole, West Virginia this Friday thru Monday to do some trout fishing. I'm from Baltimore and these have been lifelong friends of mine. Not only that but they have been fishing since we were kids but I was the only one of the 4 of us who played video games instead of fishing Sad

That all being said I want to impress them with some quality smallmouths cause I would rather catch those. My problem is I'm 2 years new into bass fishing and hardly no experience catching smallies besides the ones I caught by accident. I fish mostly southern waters and have no clue on what I should be using this time of year.

I planned on just going up there with a medium spinning rod with 8 lb florocarbon and smaller versions of the lures that I'd use for Largemouths. Once again, thanks for all the great posts and thanks for any help!

Grubs, tubes and even hair jigs are always a good bet for Smallmouths. Any type of craw colored crankbait can be very effective for covering water too. You may want to start a thread in the WV Fishing Reports board to see if someone can provide a little up to date info. Hope this helps. Grin
