Line memory?
« on: February 11, 2011, 07:24:00 AM »

Does braid have any line memory? Just bought some braid for my spinning rod and i am getting some cabin fever and wanted to spool it up but did not know if it had line memory like mono or flouro. Probably wont be fishing for at least a month. ~rant

Don't know about other brands. I use Power Pro and there is absolutely zero line memory with 50-65lb. PP

Same here, I am starting to use it more, even when the tactic may normally call for mono or fluoro...

No memory here w/ Sufix braid. Comes off the spool like heavy sewing thread.

I have used lots of different braids, and haven't found memory, usually. When the line is fresh or new, there might be a little that will work out as the line "Breaks in" because the wax or lubircant on the line will make some brands a little stiff for a while. Braids tend to work better with use, btw.

I have had braids on reels for over 5 years, rotating them in and out of service during that timw and never had any type of memory or twist problem.

Usually I have to replace braided line because salt from salt and brackish waters I fish work into the weave, even in bonded super lines and abraid the line from the inside out, so to speak.

Braids have no memory. You might have some on brand new braids, but that will wear off in 2-3 casts. Spool up, it won't hurt it.  :-*
