Lake Sherwood Bass Fishing Reports
« on: January 22, 2006, 11:11:19 PM »

1/21 - 1/22, 06
Couldn't ask for worse conditions (relative to the eye of the beholder!) with winds gusting 30+kts all day both days.  at least the temp rose from 52 to 62 between yesterday and today ( Hey, it's Southern California!).

Fished approx 7 hrs.

Squeeked out 9 small schoolie LMBs (8 oz - 1 lb 10 oz) from the boat using drop shot and 4 using standard bullet weight/texas rigged hook setup - along rock edges and occassional reed cover.

The biggun of the weekend was 2 lbs, 11 oz caught in 3 ft of water sitting dead still, or darn close, at the edge of a reed bank using Robo FX Aaron's Magic 6" green with 3/8 bullet weight on 6 lb p line.

Not a stellar performance for me on this lake but it's winter.  We average over 10 bass per 2 hrs during spring, summer, fall, and sometimes early winter... today just wasn't one of those exceptional days... other than the fact that I'm alive, I was fishing and I wasn't working!

Cheers

Mike: I didn't check the water temp but I'll check tomorrow when I go down to change the sparkplugs on the boat.

Lipripper: I average 1.5 to 2 pounds when fishing the reeds.  We occassionally go for high fish counts and splitshot 4 inch clear/salt&pepper straight tails on spinning rods in open water, those schoolies average 8 to 12 oz, with an occassional 1 lber.  I also land about a half dozen bass over 5 lbs each year.  My largest to date is 9 lb 6 oz several years ago and a friend of mine landed a 12 lb 4 oz in '04.

I know this is a longshot but was wondering if anyone could get me out on Lake Sherwood on Friday. I'm going to be on vacation in Ca. and my friend had an emergency and can't take me. Thank you for any help.
