I still like the metal framed FJ . As long as the rod is balanced I really don't notice a couple extra ounces.

I just picked up a Stradic 5000FJ for both heavy weed/timber bass and for salt inshore. This is my first Stradic but coworkers have the older Stradics and they rave about theirs but are also eager to see the FJ's.  And the only other fairly recent Shimano spinning reel I have to compare it to are my 4, 6 y/o Symetre's.

My Stradic hasn't seen water yet but considering it's feel and a good visual inspection, it lives up to the qualitty that I've come to expect from all my Shimano reels, including the 9 Curados and 1 Castaic that I hadn't mentioned.   ~bb

I have the older Stradic FH and wouldn't trade it for anything.  I've held a few of the CI4 and can't really notice a weight difference. $20 for an added bearing, I don't know how it could get any smoother than the FH I've got but hey the Stella's got almost 3 times as many.  Either way you can't go wrong with either reel.
