Navionics Chip
-Shawn-:
The Last one I looked at locked the card in. Not sure how the mechanical lock could write protect the mini sd. :-\

I am unaware of the function of the lock/unlock mechanism's purpose. It was brought up while I was troubleshooting my nav chip. They did say it was to be in the locked position when in use.

Shawn you'll have to check yours when you get a chance. I've never seen them lock the mini in place.
It stops you from writing to the disk. Seeings how the mini can only get data from the adapter (it's contacts don't touch anything but the adapter), when you prevent data from passing though the adapter you are also preventing data from getting to the Mini inside the adapter.

Does anyone know if it works with Macs? I have 2010 premium hotmaps and 2009 Platinum (South). I take it they are not grandfathered in? I also have NavPalnner2 as well. Could I get updates from Navionics with my NP2?

That's what its suppose to do............has nothing to do with locking anything in place.
