BENTON, Ky. — With 18 tournaments offering a purse of $1 million or more, 2007 ranks as the most prosperous year in the history of our sport. Top ranked bass anglers nationwide competed in more events for more money than ever before, and amazingly, 17 of our sport’s richest tournaments were FLW Outdoors events. Specifically, we held three $1 million Wal-Mart FLW Tour qualifiers, eight $1 million Wal-Mart FLW Series qualifiers, the $1 million BFL All-American presented by Chevy, the $1 million Stren Series Championship (to be held Nov. 8-11), three $1.5 million FLW Tour Opens and the $2 million Forrest Wood Cup presented by Castrol. We also awarded the biggest prize in the history of our sport – $1 million – to Scott Suggs of Bryant, Ark., for his victory at the Forrest Wood Cup in Hot Springs.

Lake Champlain FLW Series event to air Nov. 4MINNEAPOLIS — Tune in Sunday, Nov. 4 to “FLW Outdoors” on FSN for the Wal-Mart FLW Series BP Eastern Division event on Lake Champlain in Plattsburgh, N.Y. The third tournament of the Eastern Division season concludes with the winning pro claiming a cash prize of $125,000.

The full field competes for the first three days of FLW Series events. Co-angler winners are determined on day three by the heaviest accumulated three-day weight. The top 10 professionals continue competition on day four, and the winner is determined by the heaviest accumulated weight from all four days. The stories evolve and the suspense grows throughout the one-hour show until the final weigh-in results are announced.

McAbee wins Angler of the YearMINNEAPOLIS – The 2007 Land O’Lakes Angler of the Year title for the National Guard Western Division of the Wal-Mart FLW Series came down to a battle between two seasoned veterans at the fourth and final qualifier of the season on Clear Lake last week. In the end, pro Randy McAbee Jr. of Bakersfield, Calif., edged out 2006 Forrest Wood Cup Champion Brent Ehrler of Redlands, Calif., by 19 points with a total of 763 out of a possible 800.
