Got questions about how to manage your pond, fish and the wildlife around them? Two Montgomery, AL area sport fish specialists have the answers - all conveniently compiled on the pages of the new Southern Ponds and Wildlife magazine. Don Keller and Barry Smith, co-owners of American Sport Fish hatchery in Montgomery possess between them more than 60 years of fisheries consulting experience. Through those years, they have counseled thousands of people throughout the Southeast on fish management issues, and they often find themselves repeatedly answering the same basic questions. That fact inspired them to establish Southern Ponds and Wildlife, a quarterly magazine dedicated to practical, reader-friendly information for successful pond and fish management in the Southeast. |

Welcome to UltimateBass.Com, I’m Ronald Scott Fogelson, AKA Fogy for short. I was born in the great state of Minnesota and started fishing with my Dad @ about 3 years old during the season opener. A tradition my 3 brothers and I do with Dad still to this day even from over well over 900 miles away we all spend opener weekend on the lake together, as long as I’m not playing in the sand. I cut my teeth fishing for perch, walleye, northern pike, musky & crappie. Moved on to Turkey in 1989 and learned about rainbow trout and big old catfish. Didn't’t get much of a chance to go but the trips were well worth the memories. Next stationed in Montana and once again I got to play with the rainbows and perch. Bought my first boat a 1967 StarCraft with a 55hp Chrysler motor. Got the whole thing tackle, skies life jackets and all the trouble that comes with an old boat for $800.00 cash. Once I moved here to Louisiana in 1999 two guys from work took me out in a 14ft john boat bass fishing in Cypress Lake, man I was hooked. Same year after a trip back from MN we stopped off at Bass Pro in Dallas TX and I bought my 2nd boat a Nitro 640 with a 75hp Force and have been bass fishing every chance I get ever since. |

Fishing tidal water for bass can be a difficult experience, especially the first couple of times out. The techniques you have learned while fishing lakes will still apply on tidal water with the addition of two variables. These variables consist of water level (Tide Fluctuation) and current.
Understanding the influence that these variables have on baitfish will simplify the process of finding bass. Tide fluctuation affects the location of baitfish while current controls the movement of baitfish. |

Holding A Successful Open Tournament is something that many bass fishing clubs do to raise money for their organization. There is a lot of work that goes into having an open tournament so we have come up with an out line of some of the things that have wored for other clubs. The following was contributed by the Port City Bass Anglers. They have held many open tournaments to date and have had a very successful outcome. |

There are thousands of small ponds, lakes, and rivers that hold "Huge Bass" from Maine to Florida. Over the last 10 years of maintaining records, and having caught and released over 600 bass from 5 to 10 pounds, from small waters on the East Coast, and one over 10 pounds from Delaware, here are the tactics I have found that produce consistent trophies each year. |
