Welcome to UltimateBass.Com, I’m Ronald Scott Fogelson, AKA Fogy for short. I was born in the great state of Minnesota and started fishing with my Dad @ about 3 years old during the season opener. A tradition my 3 brothers and I do with Dad still to this day even from over well over 900 miles away we all spend opener weekend on the lake together, as long as I’m not playing in the sand. I cut my teeth fishing for perch, walleye, northern pike, musky & crappie. Moved on to Turkey in 1989 and learned about rainbow trout and big old catfish. Didn't’t get much of a chance to go but the trips were well worth the memories. Next stationed in Montana and once again I got to play with the rainbows and perch. Bought my first boat a 1967 StarCraft with a 55hp Chrysler motor. Got the whole thing tackle, skies life jackets and all the trouble that comes with an old boat for $800.00 cash. Once I moved here to Louisiana in 1999 two guys from work took me out in a 14ft john boat bass fishing in Cypress Lake, man I was hooked. Same year after a trip back from MN we stopped off at Bass Pro in Dallas TX and I bought my 2nd boat a Nitro 640 with a 75hp Force and have been bass fishing every chance I get ever since.
My last trip to the sand was from January till August 04 based in Iraq working for the Army. Our mission was to run gun truck duty to provide security for the convoys. While deployed I lost a friend SSgt Dustin Peters who was killed in an IED attack and I was awarded the Bronze Star. A piece of tin isn’t worth the blood of a friend, but I’ll go again when ever called. In that 8 months I found that you should never put off spending time with those you love doing the things you love. You never know when your last trip to the lake or the last conversation with loved ones will be your last, so take the good with the bad and make your time count. My loving wife Danielle of eleven years had my 3rd & current boat (Nitro 929 - 225Opti-Max) parked in the front yard for my welcome home gift. I continue to fish even though I know the best catch I’ll ever have is my wife standing by my side and holding down the fort while I’m called away. I’m 6’3 240/250 (depends on Danielle) I’ve been told that I’m lovable like a mother grizzly. I seldom pull any punches because I just don’t believe in tip-toeing around the topic and for that I’ve never been know as the one guy you just can’t figure out. I’ll be the first to say I’m far from knowing everything or having a corner on being right, but I’ll take a stance until someone can make me see the light. Some times you just have to realize that people have different views and that’s O.K. you can still be friends, if you play nice. I’m looking forward to working with all the members of UltimateBass.Com new and old to keep this place growing and continue to develop into the best Bass fish site we can make. I want everyone to know if you need help or have a question, please just ask, if I can’t provide some insight or an answer I can point you to someone here that can.
Biggest thing here is to have fun, share and learn through the exchange of information when you can, ask questions often because it sparks conversation. I truly hope you have a great experience here, welcome to the family! Arms once taken up should never be laid down but upon one of three conditions - A Safe Peace, A Complete Victory, or An Honorable Death. Or Play Nice or Die! For short. Ron Fogelson aka Fogy |
