The windy days and numerous storm fronts have kept us constantly changing our strategies this last week. The days that the wind is not blowing us off the fast developing grass beds the ChatterBait in ¼ oz. Black& Blue and a ¼ ounce Dave’s Tournament Tackle (Bream colored) spinnnerbait with the Capt. Karl’s Thumper Special blade, is getting the attention of some very nice largemouth bass on the higher part of the tide. The fun part of fishing the grass beds is we are starting to get a good frog bite on the lower part of the tide using a Case Plastics Buzzin Frog in Watermelon/White rigged on a 4/0 wide gap work hook. A quick tip for fishing any of your plastics thru the heavily matted grass, apply one drop of Pro’s Soft-Bait Glue to the hook shank and your plastic after you rig it and it will stay Texas rigged as you work your bait thru the heavily matted grass. After the storm fronts pass thru & the Blue-Bird Skies appear we have had our best success switching to the wood preferably with some grass clumps on or very near it. For this pattern we are having our best success fishing a 4 inch Ketchum worm in Motoroil with a Chartreuse tail, Texas rigged with a 1/8 oz weight.
